Reg's Pledge

Every mat helps fund play, learning and connection.

Every Hippo Mat™ purchase contributes to a ring-fenced donation pool used only to provide donated Hippo Mat™ play mats to organisations and community groups around the world.

When enough funds have accumulated to cover a complete donation, we select a suitable application and arrange the donation directly with the recipient.

Approved recipients pay nothing. The donation pool covers the mat, packaging, delivery, applicable taxes or duties, and other necessary fulfilment costs.

What is Reg's Pledge?

Reg’s Pledge is the Hippo Mat™ donation programme.

It helps Hippo Mat™ play mats reach schools, nurseries, charities, healthcare settings, community projects, care settings and other organisations where they can support play, learning, familiarity and connection.

Every purchase contributes to the programme. These contributions are kept in a ring-fenced donation pool and are not used for unrelated business costs.

We do not publish the exact amount contributed by each purchase. Donations are arranged when the pool contains enough funds to cover the complete cost of providing and delivering them.

Applications are open continuously and organisations or community groups can apply from anywhere in the world.

How Reg’s Pledge works

Who can apply?

Any organisation or community group can apply where a Hippo Mat™ could provide a meaningful benefit through play, learning, familiarity, creativity or connection.

This may include:

Applications are accepted worldwide.

Formal registration is not essential in every case. However, every applicant must provide credible evidence showing that the organisation or group is genuine and that the application is being submitted by an authorised person.

How applications are assessed

There is no automatic entitlement to a donation, and applications are not approved solely in the order they are received.

Each application is considered individually. We look at:

Hippo Mat™ balances these factors when deciding which applications to support.

Submitting a strong or eligible application does not guarantee that a donation will be offered.

Reg’s Pledge in action

Our current goal is to support 100 organisations and community groups. Every completed donation will be recorded publicly so customers and applicants can see where Reg’s Pledge support has gone.

What evidence should applicants provide?

Applications must include reasonable evidence that the organisation or community group is genuine.

Depending on the organisation and country, this could include:

Informal groups can provide the closest suitable evidence available to them.

Hippo Mat™ may request additional information where the original evidence is not sufficient to verify an application.

Please remove or conceal personal information that is not necessary to support the application.

What approved recipients receive

An approved donation may contain one or multiple Hippo Mat™ play mats where there is a clear and justified need.

The recipient and Hippo Mat™ will discuss:

The final design and quantity are agreed between Hippo Mat™ and the recipient.

The recipient will not be charged for:

Follow-up photographs and publication

Providing suitable follow-up photographs is normally a condition of receiving a donation through Reg’s Pledge.

The photographs must clearly show the donated Hippo Mat™ in the organisation or community setting and must be suitable for publication by Hippo Mat™.

People do not need to appear in the photographs. A photograph showing the mat clearly within the relevant setting can satisfy this requirement.

Where identifiable people do appear:

Approved recipients must allow Hippo Mat™ to publish:

Private application documents, identification evidence and unnecessary personal information will not form part of the public donation record.

Reg’s Pledge in action

Park Primary

Park Primary School in Lancashire received a London Hippo Mat™ while pupils were learning about the capital.

The mat gave pupils a playful way to explore London’s places, landmarks and routes from their classroom.

”The mother and baby unit residents love the mat and have been busy showing the babies the sights of Manchester on it!

Unfortunately due to COVID many of our babies have been unable to go out on town so know very little of the world outside of the prison – which is really quite sad. The Manchester Hippo Mat™ has given them a brief glimpse of Manchester city and they all really enjoy playing on it.

Thank you once again for providing us with one!”
